Rational Rhapsody models are now automatically published to a Jazz-based central place and can be accessed via Rational Rhapsody Designer Manager. Rational Rhapsody Design Manager 3.0 offers many new features and benefits that will be described in the sections that follow.

This version supports SysML and UML instance specifications. They can be used to model different designs for trade studies using the Parametric Constraint Evaluation feature. Different SysML blocks can be modeled with different attributes, multiplicity, and types of parts. Each instance can represent a design option that can be compared using constraint views and parametric diagrams.
You might change an attribute to modify the part’s size or weight; trade-off a change to a block of parts, like a comparison of a diesel engine to a gasoline engine; or change the quantity of the components, such as switching from 4-cylinder to 6-cylinder engines. You can also use the part hierarchy to fill in default values. This is a better way than specifying instances for each part and wiring them together.
Two profiles are available, both based on the same underlying model as UPDM and which include all DoDAF 2.0 views. You can create plots that show how values behave over time, and for a variety of attributes. The results can be used by systems engineers to help determine the best system architecture and specification, or to perform trade studies in order to make more informed design decisions.
Visual Studio’s Rational Rhapsody toolbar has been updated to make it easier for users to collaborate on multiple projects and parts in Rational Rhapsody and Visual Studio. The Synchronization button allows for synchronization even if the code or model changes. It is possible to export all Visual Studio projects to Rational Rhapsody. This allows you to create components and packages in Rational Rhapsody that are synchronized with every Microsoft Visual Studio project.
A new, unified progression status window displays the current progress of individual and global operations. Rational Rhapsody Gateway is now capable of processing a reverse synchronization of links defined using the mirror of UML exported to Rational DOORS. This operation can be invoked by using the “Updated Model from its DOORS Mirror” option in the Synchronization window. Rational Rhapsody 7.5.2 has many improvements to improve performance and the user experience. Rational Rhapsody 7.5.2 now includes support for DoDAF 2.0.
Now you can view attributes, operations, and flow ports as well as ports inherited from superblocks on block definition, internal block diagrams, and the features dialog of the derivate class. This can be done by checking a box in either the display options dialog for diagrams or the features dialog for a block or class. Identifying design issues early in product development reduces costs.
SysML and IBM(r] Rational(r] Harmony(TM), for Systems Engineering can now enjoy the Rational Rhapsody TestConductor Add-On’s testing automation. To make it easier to test SysML parts and blocks, you can now automatically create a test structure. The specification can then be tested with sequence diagrams or flowcharts as well as code-based tests. Test cases can be created using sequence diagrams from the Architectural Design Phase or Harmony Functional Analysis Phase, for example.
This document contains a list of known issues and limitations in Rational Rhapsody 7.5.1. Click the link to the version you are using. Rational Rhapsody 7.5.1 makes it easier for users to modify the code or model and synchronize their changes. Roundtrips can now be done for C++ code. You can also reorder attributes in struct or union attributes in code, and the model will keep that order. It is possible to add and remove namespaces from code.
The model updates to reflect these changes when C++ is used with the code-centric settings. Rational Rhapsody TestConductor Add-On’s test execution window is now integrated with Rational Rhapsody standalone client and Eclipse platform plug-in. This makes it easier to see the model and execute tests. You can also use the operations to cancel, re-execute, and debug test cases. The window can also be used to auto-expand test case information as the tests are being run.
A class can be linked to a work item in IBM(r), Rational Team Concert(TM), so other members of the team can find the design element that is relevant to their work. Some Rational Rhapsody features only work in the Windows version. You can find the most current list of supported product versions at Rational Rhapsody System requirements List. Simulink is used to start the simulation. The IBM Rational Rhapsody block animations are then created in Rhapsody to allow co-simulation. Rhapsody interacts with the physical world, which can be modeled as a model of a plant, to validate the design behavior at an early stage in the development cycle. IBM Rational Rhapsody 7.6 has enhanced capabilities to simulate activity diagrams using token passing semantics.

Microsoft Visual Studio.NET compiler supports the software, but.NET features are not available. The Software Product Compatibility Reports (IBM Rational Rhapsody version 7.6) do not include some requirements. The Detailed System Requirements document contains a complete list of system requirements before installing. IBM Rational Rhapsody 7.5.1 now uses the IBM Rational help system to provide a better user experience.
Customers who purchased the IBM Rational Rhapsody Gateway Add-On previously can continue to purchase renewal subscriptions and support for their existing licenses. Rational ClearCase Remote Client support is available for developers using Rational Rhapsody’s Eclipse platform integration. This allows them to leverage the Eclipse development capabilities and collaborate with Rational ClearCase.
Rational Rhapsody Developer C optimizes the build of applications using the MicroC framework. It only compiles the framework if it is required to reduce the build time. Rational Rhapsody 7.5.1 expands support for the Extended Execution Model that is used with the MicroC profile. It also supports active files.
Parameters can be synchronized for operation parameters, activity parameters, and event parameters. This helps to maintain design consistency throughout changes. The MathWorks Simulink model can now be generated from any Rhapsody-structured block or class. These blocks are composed of connected parts that have been created using Simulink and Rhapsody blocks. This allows the simulation of a hybrid plant-control system that has both continuous and discrete components. Simulink can also be used to simulate the whole Rhapsody model.
Rational Rhapsody allows you to capture the architecture and the plant models together as Simulink blocks.
Rational Rhapsody is now better with the ability to model static classes, which can be used to develop safety-critical applications. There are also improvements in reverse engineering existing code and the creation of custom makefiles. Static classes are Ada packages that contain only static operations and attributes.
This construct can be used for code generation, reverse engineering, and animation. Reverse engineering allows you to visualize existing Ada codebases in the modeling environment. This will allow for better understanding and documentation, while also preserving the original source code.
